The summer weather is harsh, people are afraid to go out, the shippers have more orders, but the hardships of the hot sun are also more.
These days, the North and Central are as hot as a pan of fire. In the South, when the sun is very hot, it often rains suddenly. This weather is an obsession when going out to many people. “The job of a delivery shipper to stick to the road is more difficult in the summer weather, but in return, there is the joy of more orders,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh, 62, a shipper in Ho Chi Minh City, and said many The day was too tired, he had to refuse to accept the order even though he was very sorry. He usually tries to deliver as quickly as possible and then pulls over in the shade to rest.
Over 4 years in the shipper profession, Mr. Thanh has experienced many funny situations due to the characteristics of his profession that he thinks can make many people frustrated, such as being bombed by customers, being forced to wait for a long time, or having to wait for a long time. “buried feet” inhaling gasoline smoke because of traffic jams. In hot weather, these difficulties became even more severe, but he got used to it. “Even in hot weather, many customers who are having a hard time staying inside are unreasonably dissatisfied with the shipper,” Thanh said. To overcome these situations, he trained himself to be always cheerful and alert. “It’s sunny like this, it’s very tiring to go to work, especially after noon, I’m sleepy and don’t want to go anywhere, my mind is not alert,” Mr. Thanh shared.
Flexible work characteristics, besides the full-time shipper team, there are a large number of part-timers. With the one-session-per-day schedule of many universities, many students have the means to choose to be a shipper for the rest of the day to cover living expenses and support their families. Ngo Ngoc Hung, a second-year student at Hanoi University of Industry, has been working as a shipper since early 2021 and has a decent income to pay for his daily living expenses.
A student from Phu Tho village said that this profession just needs a means of transportation, can arrange time to study in class. However, not everyone can adapt to the nature of running for several hours on the street, not to mention the summer days, it is easy to get tired, lack alertness and run out of energy to work. A delivery worker for a large company, a day receiving dozens of orders in 1-2 hours is normal. Shippers often face a huge volume of goods, having to constantly run back and forth to ship goods to customers in the fastest way.
As a student, Hung is required to balance between study and work to avoid these two jobs affecting each other. Hung also said that many days the school changed the schedule to study all day, or before the exam day, he would take time off work to focus on his study goals. “There are days when I’m too tired to deliver goods, go back to bed and sleep until the next morning, forget to do my homework. Really, if anyone is not alert and energetic enough, they can’t do it,” Hung said.
In order to maintain good health and focus when studying and working, Hung also has some secrets such as still spending half an hour a day exercising, always preparing food to limit the night. Skip meals and carry a bottle of Number 1 energy drink with you for an instant boost of energy and alertness.
“Once I delivered at noon. The customer saw that I was sleepy and tired, so I took a bottle of Number 1 energy drink from the refrigerator. After I finished drinking it, I felt like I had a measured energy source. Wake up wakes me up,” Hung recalls.
Since then, every time he went to work, Hung always pocketed a bottle of Number 1. Some days the order reached nearly a hundred, Hung was still enthusiastic about his work. To stay awake to absorb knowledge in class, or do homework, he also trusts Number 1. Hung has shared his secret with friends and colleagues.
“Working energy will bring me joy every day. And nothing is more important than health and spirit. So keep yourself a good health, an active spirit to be able to continue running. to the finish line”, the student cum shipper is optimistic.
